Our daily lives can be very hectic. This morning I discovered ants in my hair that hitched a ride home with me from my morning workout at the gym. Of course, the shower was being used when I got home so all I could do was scratch my head and hope all the ants were out. I grabbed a big cup of coffee and stepped into my yard to re-center myself. What should have been a sanctuary was instead total chaos! Major construction work is being done on the 170-year-old building I live in and equipment and supplies are spread all over my yard.
It wasn’t even 7:30 AM yet and frustrations were mounting. I easily could have continued down a road of “This day sucks!” except, I noticed roses blooming in the middle of all the mess. Perfectly smelling gorgeous roses were blooming right next to all this construction junk in the center of my yard. I had to smile.
The abrupt interruption of my “This day sucks” thought, allowed me to notice some more flowers growing between the rungs of a ladder on the ground. Before I knew it, the air felt fresh, the birds were singing and the day was actually turning out to be wonderful.
It’s amazing how God shares nature with us everywhere. I’m just grateful to have His amazing art work to have taken root in my mind instead of my shitty day thought.
